L’enfant de Albadariya à Kissidougou, c’est une dizaine d’albums et de singles parmi lesquels, Yèkè Yèkè qui a connu un succès phénoménal. Chanson d’ailleurs reprise dans plusieurs langues dont en hébreu, arabe, chinois, hindi, portugais, anglais ou espagnol. Yèkè Yèkè c’est en quelques années, 45 tours atteint des sommets de vente chiffrés en millions d’exemplaires.
Le Griot électrique, toujours de blanc vêtu, c’est également 9 millions de disques vendus et 16 disques d’or. Mory Kanté est par ailleurs le père de l’artiste Manamba Kanté épouse de Soul Bang’s lauréat prix RFI découverte 2016 (photo)
