Le Ministère français de l’Europe et des Affaires Étrangères, Jean-Yves Le Drian, a, à travers une déclaration, dénoncé le caractère non inclusif du double scrutin législatif et référendaire qui s’est déroulé, dimanche 22 mars 2020. La France a ainsi condamné les actes de violence qui ont émaillé cette journée de vote.

« La France suit avec préoccupation la situation en Guinée, après l’organisation, ce dimanche 22 mars, d’élections législatives et d’un référendum en vue d’un changement de Constitution. Elle condamne les actes de violence qui ont entraîné, durant cette journée, la mort de plusieurs Guinéens.
Le caractère non inclusif de ces élections et non consensuel du fichier électoral, ainsi que le rôle joué par des éléments des forces de sécurité et de défense excédant la simple sécurisation du processus, n’ont pas permis la tenue d’élections crédibles et dont le résultat puisse être consensuel. La France relève aussi l’absence d’observation régionale et internationale à l’occasion de ce double vote.
La France soutiendra les initiatives de la CEDEAO, de l’Union africaine et de l’OIF pour désamorcer les tensions en Guinée et restaurer rapidement un dialogue entre toutes les parties. Elle appelle tous les acteurs guinéens, quels qu’ils soient, à la responsabilité et à la plus grande retenue ».
