L’ampleur de la crise sociopolitique qui secoue la Guinée préoccupe, à plus d’un titre, les pays de la sous région, de l’Afrique et du monde entier. L’obsession du président de la République d’organiser coûte que coûte le référendum constitutionnel en est la cause principale.
Dans une déclaration rendue publique ce vendredi, 20 mars 2020, le gouvernement fédéral de la République du Nigéria a appelé les Autorités guinéennes à fournir un environnement propice pour permettre « l’organisation des élections libres, transparentes, équitables et pacifiques, qui doivent être inclusives afin de consolider la paix et la stabilité dans le pays ».

Le gouvernement fédéral du Nigéria a observé avec un intérêt vif et constructif les récents développements politiques et sociaux en République de Guinée.
2. Le Nigéria estime que l’Afrique de l’Ouest a réalisé des progrès démocratiques importants et louables. Malgré des problèmes politiques et de sécurité persistants, des progrès gigantesques ont été accomplis dans la construction et le renforcement de la légitimité des institutions démocratiques, la tenue d’élections ouvertes, la garantie de transitions pacifiques et l’amélioration de l’état de droit dans notre sous-région.
3. En tant que pays, notre foi dans la démocratie en tant que fondement de la paix, du progrès, du développement et de la stabilité dans la sous-région est inébranlable et nous restons fermes dans notre attachement à des moyens pacifiques de règlement des conflits. Nous exprimons donc une forte confiance au peuple de la République de Guinée pour agir pacifiquement et de concert, afin de résoudre tous les problèmes internes; et que le gouvernement guinéen devrait fournir l’environnement propice requis.
4. À cette fin, le gouvernement fédéral du Nigéria appelle tous les acteurs politiques et autres parties prenantes du pays à s’abstenir de toute violence et à s’engager dans des élections transparentes, libres, équitables et pacifiques qui doivent être inclusives, afin de consolider la paix et la stabilité dans la République de Guinée.
