Moi je connais bien le doyen Souleymane Diallo pour avoir exercé le métier de journaliste au Lynx puis au sein du groupe Lynx-Lance, où je fus fondateur du second avec lui et pleins d’autres journalistes comme le doyen feu KAA, Assan Abraham Keita, l’enfant de Pita, (paix à son âme ) Bah Lamine, l’homme de la décentralisation, feu Prosper Doré avec ses cactus et les faits divers, feu Sekou Ahmadou Condé, le très bouillant et l’infatigable secrétaire général du Lynx, Thierno Diallo de l’OGDH, le grand reporter Barry Ibrahima Sory et les jeunes journalistes reporters aux dents longues, Sanou Kerfalla Cissé, l’actuel fondateur de la radio Sabari Fm, Aboubacar Diallo dit Abou Backr, Azoka Bah dit Bazoka de Lynx Fm.
Revenu de la Côte d’Ivoire où il a travaillé pour ‘’Fraternité Matin’’ et membre fondateur de ‘’Ivoire Soir’’, deux quotidiens ivoiriens du gouvernement, Souleymane Diallo consacre toute sa carrière de journaliste à la liberté de la presse indépendante en Guinée, à lutter contre les tenants du pouvoir à l’époque qui ne voulaient accorder cette liberté acquise de haute lutte, dans la douleur, la souffrance, des menaces et exactions et les arrestations arbitraires des journalistes comme lui.
Le vieux YALA, Souleymane Diallo a fait la prison civile de Coronthie avec l’actuel président de la République Alpha Condé, farouche opposant au régime de feu Général Lansana Conté qui a duré 24 ans.
M. Diallo fut très ami au professeur Condé lorsqu’ils étaient en exil à Abidjan et lorsqu’ils regagnèrent le pays après la chute du pouvoir révolutionnaire de feu camarade Ahmed Sekou Touré pour l’instauration de la démocratie en Guinée.
Il a lutté, à travers ses éditos et les articles dans le Lynx et parfois dans la Lance, durant tout le règne du régime militaire aux côtés des opposants d’alors feus Bah Mamadou, le journaliste de ‘’jeune Afrique’’ Siradiou Diallo, Jean Marie Doré et le principal opposant à Lansana Conté, le professeur Alpha Condé pour instaurer le multipartisme en Guinée.
Il a condamné l’arrestation de l’actuel président à l’époque et lutté pour sa libération. Et lorsque Alpha Condé fut libéré en 2001, il a été le seul journaliste, premier président de l’AGEPI ( association guinéenne de la presse indépendante) à l’accompagner à Dakar pour aller remercier le président Abdoul Diouf et les opposants sénégalais qui l’ont soutenu pendant sa ‘’dèche’’ en prison.
Comme l’a si bien rappelé certains confrères ici, Souleymane Diallo est un Héros, un pionnier de la liberté de presse et de la libéralisation des radios en République de Guinée.
Soyons simplement reconnaissant à l’homme et reconnaître son combat qu’il a mené avec bien d’autres journalistes dans ce pays.
L’ami de la presse hier va t’il devenir curieusement l’ennemi de la même presse aujourd’hui ?
